Garage Sale Riston & Arnold - £272 Raised For PFC - Thank you.

🎉 A FANTASTIC £272 RAISED! 🎉

What a brilliant morning at the Long Riston & Arnold Garage Sales — we’re delighted to say that the event raised £272 for the Playing Fields! 💚

A very special thank you to Julie Richardson, who put a huge amount of time and effort into organising the event and pulling everything together. There’s an awful lot of work behind the scenes to make something like this happen, so well done Julie! 👏

A huge thank you too to everyone who ran stalls to raise money for the PFC, everyone who bought a map, donated, helped out or simply came along for a wander and picked up a bargain.

It was fantastic to see so many faces out and about around Long Riston and Arnold. One resident in Arnold told us she had seen more than 100 people at her stall during the morning!

And there were some lovely knock-on benefits too.

☕ The Coffee Morning at the Village Hall was incredibly busy — one of the organisers told us they hadn’t stopped since 10am, serving bacon butties and drinks. It was great to see the extra footfall around the villages helping to support another worthy community event at the same time.

♻️ And, of course, garage sales are also about giving things a second chance. Lots of items found new homes today rather than potentially ending up in landfill — good for our pockets, good for the community and good for reducing waste.

Our Vice-Chair, John Sherwood, summed up perfectly why the fundraising itself is so important:

“We cannot grant fund our running costs and so support from the community is vital if we are to keep our fantastic play and sport facilities open and maintained to a high standard.”

That’s why the £272 raised really matters. It will help towards the everyday costs of looking after the Playing Fields and keeping our play and sporting facilities maintained, safe and available for everyone.

But today was about more than the money raised. It was about people getting out, meeting neighbours, supporting community causes, giving unwanted items a new home and bringing a real buzz to Long Riston & Arnold.

£272 raised, lots of items reused, a busy Village Hall and a great morning for our two villages. ❤️
