Path & Barrier Update

Update on the Footpath Between the Village Hall and the School

We’d like to share an update on the ongoing work at the PFC regarding the old barrier and the footpath that runs between the village hall and the school.

The good news is that improvements to this access route are scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.

You may notice a new roadside barrier being installed at the front of the school as ERYC extends the existing railings (planned for 22/11/2025).

Once this is in place and additional safety measures are secured for all path users, we will then begin work on the footpath itself (planned for the week commencing 24/11/2025).

These improvements will enhance access to both the play park and the school entrances.

We have been working closely with key community groups and raising the necessary funds behind the scenes to bring this project forward.

  • Withernwick Wind Farm Community Fund

  • Riston School

  • Riston PTFA

  • Long Riston Playing Fields

  • & support from ERYC with the Main Street railings extension.

We will share further updates as the work progresses.

Please note that while the path is under construction, it will be closed to the public. The school will advise on alternative access routes closer to the time.

A route also exists around the rear of the village hall as well, whilst the work is taking place.

Thank you to everyone involved in helping make this happen.
