Damage To Equipment

Notice from the Long Riston Playing Fields Committee

We regret to report further incidents of deliberate damage to the equipment at the Long
Riston Playing Fields.

The recently repaired basket swing, which cost £390 to restore, has been damaged again,
only days after being returned to service.

Over the past few months, we have experienced repeated vandalism affecting several areas,
including:

● Basket swing (intentional melting of ropes, latest issue)
● Tennis court fencing (weakened due to youths climbing up and over)
● TEQ table surface (split and damaged from heavy impact)
● Basket swing (repeated twisting and damage to ropes)
● Secure play area safety (compromised by the creation of an unauthorised pathway,
clearing of brambles, and cutting of tree branches)

We again appeal to anyone who may have information about these incidents to contact a
trustee, report it to the police on 101, or provide information anonymously via
Crimestoppers at: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/fearless/give-information-anonymously/forms/generic-form

Latest crime reference: 25 000 152 754

We will provide an update shortly regarding the status of the basket swing and whether it
can safely remain in use.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us protect and maintain this valued
community facility.
